Technology trends 2021

Technology trends in 2021 will be the driving force in helping organisations navigate a changed reality. The global health crisis has accelerated our understanding that technology plays a critical role in our world now and in the future.

From developing lifesaving vaccines, to helping organisations roll-out online collaboration tools to the acceleration of cloud adoption, and delivering online learning, technology’s critical role has never been clearer.

Q Associates wanted to find out more about the core digital transformation trends and the technologies and challenges set to shape the year ahead. To do this we reached out to over 1000 senior IT professionals to see what they had to say.

Technology will continue to transform the way we live and work, and the pace of change and adoption will only quicken. Amid the upheaval and abrupt change to our work practices in the last 12 months, there are no surprises that remote working came out as the top primary focus area in this poll, with investment set to continue throughout 2021.

Cyber security and public cloud remain in the top 3 strategy focus areas, as security and business leaders face the challenge of evolving cyberattacks and protecting critical assets.

Cyber security

While many organisations are still in the early stages of their cloud journey, capturing the true value of cloud will help businesses drive efficiencies and open innovation for increased agility and continuity. With data migration a priority for many enterprises, research shows that data protection and compliance has significantly increased in line with public cloud focus, as organisations move to a hybrid environment.

What impact are you expecting on your IT budget for 2021? Whose input is most valuable to you when making strategic IT decisions for your organisations?
