Cyber Essentials Scheme certification successfully renewed
September 5, 2017
Q Associates have successfully renewed their certification of the Government’s Cyber Essentials Scheme, a key deliverable of the UK’s National Security Programme. The UK Government and industry-backed scheme helps organisations to protect themselves against cyber-attacks by covering essential cyber security precautions.
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed, industry supported scheme to help organisations protect themselves against common cyber-attacks.
It fulfils two main functions:
- It provides a clear statement of the basic controls all organisations should implement to mitigate the risk from common internet based threats, within the context of the Government’s 10 Steps to Cyber Security.
- It offers a mechanism for organisations to demonstrate to customers, investors, insurers and others that they have taken these essential precautions. The government now requires all suppliers bidding for certain sensitive and personal information handling contracts to be certified against the Cyber Essentials scheme.
Jane Sampson, Business Process Manager at Q Associates explained “This renewal of the certification continues to benefit both our company and clients by showing that we keep our data secure. This is particularly poignant given the upcoming GDPR regulations in May 2018. We already hold ISO27001 certification (Information Security Management System). Security is paramount to Q Associates and the addition of the Cyber Essentials certification gives us the utmost confidence in our ability to reduce the risk of cyber based threats.”
Q Associates have a strong focus on supporting public sector technology transformation, dealing with over 200 public sector customers.
