That’s a Wrap: Ending the Year
December 21, 2018
As the curtains draw to a close in 2018, we look back fondly on a successful year with some of our favourite moments from the last 12 months. From opening a brand-new office in Manchester to travelling the country showcasing the latest and greatest technologies. It’s not all been smooth sailing this year though. With the introduction of GDPR and other major global events like Brexit looming, technology companies have been forced to change their ways and adapt to new surroundings, all while keeping up to pace with the continual challenge of embracing and championing new technologies. Here are some highlights from a year full of surprises, and one we’ve relished every moment of.
Events for Q in 2018
Tech tours, higher education conferences and testing out uncharted waters with events in new cities – 2018 proved a busy year for Q.
EBC Amsterdam
One of the highlights of the year – our two trips to NetApp’s Executive Briefing Centre (EBC) in both February and October. Every year, we get together with key IT leaders from both public sector and commercial organisations to help their businesses by introducing them to future NetApp technologies and business transformation solutions. Based in the wonderful Dutch city of Amsterdam, there’s no wonder our trips to EBC are so eagerly awaited.
NetApp / Splunk tech roadshow
Taking us from east to west, we teamed up with both NetApp and Splunk as we toured from Bristol to London, stopping off at our headquarters in Newbury along the way. This three-day event, titled ‘Be a Data Visionary’, focussed on the true value of data-driven innovation. And who better to work with on such a project than data giants Splunk and NetApp?
Another successful UCISA IG
Joining forces with NetApp yet again, we headed for UCISA IG18 in late September. As a corporate member of UCISA for nearly two decades, these events are increasingly important to us. We love our work within the higher education sector, especially when it makes an impact like it did for the University for the Creative Arts and James Davies’ IT team. Find out what James said about his relationship with Q in the video here. https://bit.ly/2QgLrGW
New beginnings
It’s not every day you get to reveal a sparkling new office to the world. But that’s exactly what we did this year when we opened our WeWork office in Manchester in September. Now a key hub for our expansion in the north, we even managed to get an event up and running within a month of moving in.
Afterthought
We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to anyone and everyone who’s been a part of the Q journey so far – know you’re appreciated greatly. Let’s continue all of the fantastic work we’ve done together both into the new year and for many years to come.
