Server IT Audit Technical Requirements
Supported Operating Systems:
- Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 4 or 6a)
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
- Microsoft Windows XP
- Red Hat Linux 7.3, 8.x, AS 3, ES 3
- Solaris on Sparc v8, v9 & v10
- Solaris on x86 v9 & v10
Minimum Requirements For Server Inventory and Data Collection:
For Windows Servers:
- No previous security hardening or security modifications
- Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is installed and running
- DCOM is enabled
- RPC service is running
- Remote registry service is running
- File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is installed and enabled
- Administrative shares Admin$ and C$ on the source server are accessible from the IT Audit Server
For Linux / UNIX Servers:
- SSHD installed and running
- Available administrative or root account with shell access
Minimum Requirements For Server Inventory and Data Collection:
- Prior to commencement of onsite services, networking and power must be provided as per the pre-service check list
- A single point of contact will be designated to coordinate access to the required personnel and equipment
- Q Associates Consultants will have access as needed to the system and network administrators as part of the initial setup process
Service Schedule
Pre-Engagement Conference Call
- Introduce key participants
- Work with client to start server candidate inventory
- Complete install checklist
- Run Pre-Install analyser tool to gather accurate inventory and test protocols and ports needed for the project
Installation
- Run inventory job for agreed server inventory list
- Run performance collection
- Resolve rights/firewall issues
- Verify data collection
- Verify performance counters
Post Installation
- Review findings
- Complete consolidation report
- Review virtualisation guidelines and concerns
