Server IT Audit Technical Requirements

Supported Operating Systems:

1. Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 4 or 6a)

2. Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

3. Microsoft Windows 2003 Server

4. Microsoft Windows XP

5. Red Hat Linux 7.3, 8.x, AS 3, ES 3

6. Solaris on Sparc v8, v9 & v10

7. Solaris on x86 v9 & v10

Minimum Requirements For Server Inventory and Data Collection:

For Windows Servers:

1. No previous security hardening or security modifications

2. Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is installed and running

3. DCOM is enabled

4. RPC service is running

5. Remote registry service is running

6. File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is installed and enabled

7. Administrative shares Admin$ and C$ on the source server are accessible from the IT Audit Server

For Linux / UNIX Servers:

1. SSHD installed and running

2. Available administrative or root account with shell access

Networking Requirements:

LAN/WAN ports, firewalls and security devices must allow traffic between the collection server and servers from which data is collected

For Windows Servers:

1. 53               TCP/UDP     Domain

2. 88               TCP/UDP     Kerberos

3. 123             UDP             Time

4. 137             UDP             NetBIOS-ns

5. 139             TCP              NetBIOS-ssn

6. 389             TCP/UDP      LDAP

7. 3268           TCP              LDAP to Global Catalogue

8. 135/445      TCP              For DCOM/RPC communication using WMI for Windows servers

Prerequisites and Assumptions

1. Prior to commencement of onsite services, networking and power must be provided as per the pre-service check list

2. A single point of contact will be designated to coordinate access to the required personnel and equipment.

3. Q Associates Consultants will have access as needed to the system and network administrators as part of the initial setup process.
